Argentine Senate approves National Day in honor of Admiral Guillermo Brown

The Argentine Senate has unanimously granted half-sanction to a bill proposed by Senator Agustín Coto to establish March 3 as the National Day in Honor of Admiral Guillermo Brown. The legislation aims to incorporate this date into school and institutional commemorative calendars to honor the founder of the Argentine Navy.

Guillermo Brown, born in Ireland in 1777, arrived in the Río de la Plata in 1810 and played a decisive role in the nation's independence process. In 1814, he was appointed Commander of the Navy, leading the Revolutionary Naval Squadron to secure control of the Río de la Plata against Spanish forces. The bill now moves to the Chamber of Deputies for further legislative processing.
