Argentine Senator Oscar Dolzani Apologizes for Driving While Using Phone

Provincial senator Oscar Dolzani, representing the San Javier department in Argentina, sparked controversy after a video he posted showed him handling his mobile phone and a mate while driving. The footage spread widely on social media and was condemned as a dangerous breach of road‑safety norms.

Dolzani later uploaded a second video in which he acknowledged the misconduct, stating, “Errar es de humanos y rectificar es de sabios,” and apologised, saying the act was “very bad” even though the road was clear. He emphasized that politicians are ordinary citizens and that admitting mistakes is necessary.

The incident has reignited public debate over distracted driving and the responsibility of public officials to model safe behavior.
