Argentine textile and retail sectors face closures amid economic crisis

The Argentine textile and retail sectors are facing significant contraction due to economic pressures. The clothing brand Gandhi announced the closure of several locations in La Plata, including its branches in Gorina, Sicardi, and Gandhi Mini de 48. The company is also consolidating operations by merging the Los Hornos branch with Gandhi Mini and relocating its Calle 12 establishment to ensure business continuity amid falling consumption and rising operational costs.

In a more severe development, the textile group Will Der S.A. has permanently closed its manufacturing plants in General Pacheco and Las Flores. The company, which produced sportswear for global brands such as Adidas, Puma, Lacoste, and New Balance, terminated the employment of 120 workers. Management cited an irreversible financial crisis caused by a drop in demand, massive imports, and high financing costs as the primary reasons for the shutdown.
