Argentine towns act to restore services: Vela regains PAMI doctor, Bahía Blanca pushes to keep cold‑tariff status

The rural locality of María Ignacia‑Vela in Buenos Aires Province was left without a primary‑care doctor for more than six months amid a nationwide PAMI crisis. The municipal government, led by Mayor Miguel Lunghi, signed a cooperation agreement that provides free use of the local retirees’ centre and appoints former health official and councilor Matías Tringler to resume medical services, pending final PAMI approval.

Meanwhile, in the city of Bahía Blanca, Mayor Federico Susbielles announced that more than 30,000 residents and over 40 civil‑society groups have signed a petition to keep the municipality within the "Zona Fría" electricity tariff regime. The mayor warned that exclusion from the scheme would be discriminatory and urged authorities to maintain the benefit for the city’s inhabitants.
