Argentinian authorities rescue protected birds and monitor stranded condors

Police Rural, the VANT drone unit and staff from the Dirección de Biodiversidad y Ecoparque conducted an operation in Las Heras, Mendoza, after a tip about illegal captivity. Using drones, they identified numerous cages and seized 20 native protected birds along with 50 cages, 25 traps and 29 transport boxes. The birds were taken to the biodiversity directorate for rehabilitation.

In a separate incident on the coast of Dina Huapi, Río Negro, nine Andean condors were found grounded for several hours. Personnel from National Park Nahuel Huapi, the Dirección Regional Patagonia Norte and local police monitored the birds, attributing the stranding to unusually calm winds. Authorities urged residents not to approach or feed the condors while the situation is assessed.
