Argentinian Malbec and Bonarda wines highlighted in UK retail
Tesco is promoting the Trivento Private Reserve Malbec, an Argentine wine from the high‑altitude vineyards of Mendoza’s Uco Valley. The bottle is priced at £8 (reduced from £11.50) with a Clubcard discount until 6 July. Tesco wine expert Graham Nash praised the wine’s full‑bodied flavour, noting its gold‑medal win at the International Wine Challenge and recommending it with steak, barbecue and rich tomato dishes.
In a separate feature, sommelier María Inés Amato discussed the rising profile of Bonarda, the second‑most planted red grape in Argentina after Malbec. Speaking on behalf of Cumehue Wines, she highlighted Bonarda’s fruity aromas, soft tannins and versatility, describing it as a wine that offers authenticity and fresh experiences to consumers.
