Argolida: 19-year-old rescues elderly couple from burning house
A 19-year-old man, Christos Kologliatis, rescued an elderly couple from their burning home in the village of Midea, Argolida. The incident occurred during the night when Kologliatis noticed the neighbors' house engulfed in flames while sitting on his balcony.
Working alongside other local youths who used hoses to attempt to control the fire, Kologliatis entered the building to reach the panicking couple. He successfully brought the elderly woman outside, with assistance from other neighbors, as she was unable to stand on her own.
The Fire Service and EKAB arrived at the scene to manage the situation. While the elderly couple is reported to be in good health despite the shock, the house sustained extensive damage. Local residents noted a strong smell of petroleum in the area, suggesting a possible fuel tank involvement.
