Argolida faces high temperatures and wind turbine protests

The Argolida region is experiencing diverse developments regarding weather conditions and local environmental protests. Forecasts indicate an unusually warm Sunday, September 20, with temperatures in Nafplio and Argos expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius. The weather is predicted to remain generally clear due to a stable high-pressure system, though some isolated rain may occur in mountainous inland areas.

Simultaneously, the group ‘SOS Northwest Argolida from Wind Turbines’ has announced an information meeting for residents in Stathaika on Wednesday, September 23, at 8:00 PM. The meeting addresses concerns regarding the installation of eight massive wind turbines, each 200 meters tall, on the Bachriami mountain ridge. Protesters claim the project, located near villages such as Vrousti and Schinochori, will lead to environmental, economic, and social degradation. The group is currently pursuing legal actions to cancel the project.
