Argolida Operational Actions Department renamed in memory of Konstantina Kyriakou

The Argolida Operational Actions Department (TED) building has been officially renamed in memory of Konstantina Kyriakou. The naming ceremony took place in Nea Kio, attended by Civil Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis.

Konstantina Kyriakou, a 38-year-old mother of two, died in a fatal traffic accident on October 11, 2024, on the Nea Kio-Nafplio coastal road. The accident occurred when a vehicle driven by two young men attempted a dangerous high-speed overtaking maneuver, resulting in a side-impact collision. Both the driver and the passenger were subsequently sentenced to multi-year prison terms.

A commemorative plaque was unveiled, stating the building is dedicated to her memory as a “minimum tribute to the value of human life and road safety.” During the ceremony, Minister Chrysochoidis emphasized the importance of adhering to the rule of law and the social contract to protect human life.
