Argolis police dismantle human trafficking ring for agricultural labor

Police in Nafplio have dismantled a human trafficking ring operating in the Argolis region, aimed at the labor and economic exploitation of foreign nationals. Following a coordinated operation, authorities arrested three individuals—a 30-year-old man and two women aged 23 and 36—who allegedly played roles in the scheme. A 21-year-old and other unknown accomplices are also under investigation.

During the operation, 23 foreign nationals were located in a residence within the Municipality of Nafplio. Investigations revealed that the 30-year-old suspect managed the recruitment, transport, and placement of these individuals for agricultural work across Argolis and other parts of Greece. The suspects allegedly confiscated the victims' travel documents and forced them to work without receiving wages, claiming the labor was necessary to repay debts incurred for housing, food, and legal documentation.

Accomplices reportedly monitored the workers and used threats of violence to prevent them from leaving. Police seized handwritten notes, mobile phones, and three vehicles used in the commission of these crimes. The arrested individuals face charges including human trafficking, unlawful violence, threats, violations of immigration laws, and personal data breaches.
