Argon Audio launches Aurora direct-drive turntable

Argon Audio, part of the Danish Nordic Hi-Fi group, has announced the Aurora, the company’s first direct-drive turntable. Moving away from its previous belt-driven designs, the Aurora focuses on a heavy, resonance-dampened construction.

The turntable features a brushless motor with an eight-pole coil structure designed for stable speed and minimal wow and flutter. To reduce mechanical energy transfer, the platter bearing is mechanically isolated from the motor. The unit is built on a 55mm thick MDF plinth and includes a 1.5kg aluminum platter with integrated rubber damping.

Technical specifications include an S-shaped aluminum tonearm with VTA adjustment and the company’s patented Anisotropic Torsion Stabilizer (ATS) technology. The Aurora comes equipped with an Ortofon Concorde Music Blue pickup integrated by SME.
