Argyll and Bute Council delays Islay roadworks
Argyll and Bute Council officials have stated they cannot guarantee that scheduled roadworks between Port Charlotte and Nerabus on Islay will begin by mid-September. The project has faced multiple delays, which officials attributed to difficulties with transporting materials via barge.
During a recent area committee meeting, council project manager Mark Calder noted that while staff are ready to deliver the works, logistical issues persist. However, progress was reported regarding a long-awaited bus stop at West Loch in Tarbert. Funding for the bus stop has been identified through the business infrastructure fund, and the project is moving forward following land negotiations and safety audits in coordination with Transport Scotland.
