Istanbul Technical University to establish academic units in Karabakh
Istanbul Technical University (ITU) will establish engineering-focused academic units within Karabakh University in Azerbaijan. This initiative, formalized by a Presidential Decree and developed by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), aims to provide scientific and human resource support for the reconstruction and development of the Karabakh region.
The partnership follows a model of international cooperation intended to move beyond simple student exchanges by directly integrating Turkey’s academic expertise into the educational infrastructure of partner nations. YÖK President Erol Özvar stated that this step aims to contribute to the future of Karabakh through science and higher education, building upon previous agreements made between Turkish and Azerbaijani educational authorities.
In separate cultural developments, the 52nd International Arhavi Culture and Art Festival concluded in Turkey with performances by artists Öykü Gürman and Semicenk. Additionally, a cultural program titled ‘Ambassadors of Art of Tomorrow’ was held in Baku, featuring musical performances by students from Turkish and Azerbaijani universities to highlight the shared cultural heritage of the two nations.
