Ariana Grande Announces Career Break After Eternal Sunshine Tour
Pop star Ariana Grande confirmed that she will step back from public life once her Eternal Sunshine Tour concludes on September 1 in London. In a Chicago concert she explained the decision was planned long ago, not a reaction to recent criticism, and cited “endless, ongoing public scrutiny” as a key factor. Her representative told People that Grande will take a “much‑deserved break” to focus on her health and personal life.
The announcement also includes her withdrawal from the West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s musical Sunday in the Park with George, in which she was to appear opposite Jonathan Bailey. The tour’s North American leg ended in Chicago, and a ten‑show London residency at the O₂ Arena runs from August 15 to September 1. Grande’s eighth studio album Petal and its video, which sparked debate over her weight, were released earlier this month.
Grande thanked fans, emphasized the need for personal limits, and said the tour remains “the greatest experience of my professional and creative life.”
