Ariana Grande condemns Trump administration for using her music in anti-trans TikTok
Ariana Grande has publicly condemned the Trump administration after the @TeamTrump TikTok account used her song ‘We Can’t Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)’ in a video containing anti-transgender rhetoric. The video featured Donald Trump walking toward a podium with text stating, “Men can’t have babies and should never compete in women’s sports.” Grande responded to the post by stating, “Never use my music again. Also, your truth is false.”
This marks the second time in two months that Grande has protested the unauthorized use of her music for political purposes. In June, she criticized the White House for using her track ‘Bye’ in a video promoting the activities of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), describing the content as “barbaric, inhumane, and heinous.”
Grande is among a growing number of high-profile artists, including Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and Sabrina Carpenter, who have challenged the administration regarding the use of their intellectual property in political social media content. Her record label is reportedly working to have the song removed from the controversial TikTok clip.
