Ariana Grande granted expedited subpoenas to identify music hackers

Ariana Grande has secured a legal victory to accelerate her efforts to identify individuals responsible for leaking her unreleased music. A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge granted a motion for expedited discovery, waiving the standard 16-day waiting period for subpoenas.

The singer’s legal team argued that rapid action is necessary to prevent further theft and to ensure that critical account, subscriber, and login data from online platforms is not lost. The lawsuit alleges that 45 unreleased songs were leaked in 2023 alone, with hundreds of tracks stolen since her career began in 2011.

The subpoenas aim to gather information from various social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, and Discord, as well as payment services like PayPal and Cash App. The legal action seeks to unmask anonymous users who have allegedly been stealing unreleased content and selling it on the dark web.
