Ariana Grande sues hackers over leaked unreleased songs
Pop star Ariana Grande filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles on July 27, alleging that unnamed hackers—identified in the complaint as “John Does”—accessed the digital accounts of photographers, producers and other close collaborators. The defendants are accused of stealing and distributing unreleased songs, private photos and studio‑session video footage, many of which were sold on the dark web for significant sums of money.
The complaint states that 45 unreleased songs were leaked in 2023 alone and that hundreds of similar leaks have occurred since Grande’s debut in 2011. Grande is seeking subpoenas to compel internet‑service providers and platforms to reveal the hackers’ identities, and she alleges violations of California computer‑hacking statutes, invasion of privacy and conversion. The lawsuit also requests damages and an injunction to stop further breaches.
Grande is currently on a world tour and is preparing to release her eighth studio album, Petal, later this month.
