Arianna Fontana uncertain about future after Milano Cortina 2026
Short track speed skater Arianna Fontana has expressed uncertainty regarding her future in professional sports following the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games. During a ceremony at CONI, the 36-year-old athlete noted that she is undecided whether the upcoming Italian Games will mark her final Olympic appearance.
Fontana stated, “I don’t know if it was the last Olympics in Milano Cortina,” adding that any decision will depend on her remaining physical and mental energy. While the possibility of competing in the 2030 Olympics remains an open hypothesis, she has not made any definitive commitments.
With 14 career Olympic medals, including gold in the mixed relay and silver in the 500 meters, Fontana has become the most decorated Italian athlete in Olympic history, surpassing the previous record held by fencer Edoardo Mangiarotti.
