Arica authorities seize two trucks carrying suspected smuggled clothing

Authorities in Arica, Chile, intercepted two trucks loaded with bales of clothing suspected of being smuggled toward the border. The operation, conducted by the Carabineros de Chile (SIP) on Route A-191, revealed that the drivers could not provide legal documentation for the cargo. Additionally, one driver was found to be using an unauthorized foreign license for the heavy vehicle.

The National Customs Service of Arica has initiated legal actions following the discovery of inconsistencies in the paperwork. A third individual attempted to regularize the situation by presenting documents claiming the goods originated from a Free Trade Zone, but officials identified expired documentation and discrepancies regarding the declared destination of the items.
