Arica Disability Gala Showcases Inclusion and Talent
The former Casino Arica hosted the gala artistic presentation of the “Tránsito para la Vida Independiente” project, organized by the Consejo Comunal de la Discapacidad and led by Frida Quispe with coordination by Sheila Sánchez. Beneficiaries of the programme performed dances and artistic numbers that highlighted the skills, motor development and independence they have gained through workshops. The event featured invited groups such as the Ballet Folklórico Municipal and the NGO Mayta, and was attended by regional officials including Seremi of Social Development Paulina Gálvez, SENADIS regional director María Antonieta Larco, regional councilor Nino Estay, councilor Susana Vega and Mario Salgado of the Regional Government’s Division of Social and Human Development. Gálvez emphasized the government’s commitment to inclusion, stating, “Together with our minister María Jesús Wulf, we believe inclusion is built by creating more opportunities for people with disabilities.” The gala served as a community space to celebrate the achievements of people with disabilities and promote broader societal inclusion.
