Arica hosts free literacy seminar for educators

The seminar, titled ‘Trayectorias Lectoras en aulas diversas: claves para enseñar, acompañar y avanzar’, begins on Wednesday, October 21, in Arica. Organized by the ‘Por un Chile que Lee’ network in collaboration with Fundación Crecer con Todos, the Universidad de Tarapacá, Instituto Milenio Mistral, and Instituto Natura, the event is free for teachers, education students, and librarians.

The initiative aims to provide tools for teaching reading and writing within diverse sociocultural classroom environments. It addresses national concerns regarding literacy, specifically targeting the statistic that 40% of children in Chile struggle with reading comprehension by the second grade. The seminar features academic experts Carmen Sotomayor and Jaime Balladares.
