Arica housing meeting addresses land and financing deficits

The Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC) in Arica recently held the XXI City and Housing Meeting to address critical shortages in social housing and financing. Local authorities, including representatives from Serviu and Minvu, discussed the regional need for well-located land and improved connectivity, noting that existing railway lines act as barriers to new residential projects.

Data presented by the CChC indicates a housing deficit exceeding 15,000 units. The report highlighted a concerning rise in households unable to secure housing due to financial incapacity, which reached 8,418 in 2025. Additionally, the middle-income sector deficit grew from 5,500 in 2023 to 6,500 in 2025, accounting for 43% of the total deficit.
