Arica receives new professional certification program for artisans

A new certified training program in arts and crafts is being implemented in Arica, Chile, to professionalize local artisans and visual artists. The Diploma in Professional and Labor Development in Arts and Crafts is a collaborative initiative between the Seremi of Cultures, Arts and Heritage and the University of Chile.

Funded through the Red Cultura program, the initiative provides full scholarships to 15 students. The curriculum, which runs until October 2026, includes 135 hours of study across four thematic modules and a final workshop. The program utilizes a hybrid format, combining synchronous online sessions with in-person meetings in the regional capital. The goal is to provide high-level training in heritage research and normative concepts regarding popular arts to strengthen the local cultural sector.
