Ariel Robles and Álvaro Ramos propose patriotic committees in Costa Rica

Ariel Robles, a former presidential candidate for the Frente Amplio, has proposed the creation of "Patriotic Committees for Democracy" across Costa Rica. Robles reached out to several former opposition presidential candidates via social media, suggesting they organize via a group communication platform to coordinate with various social organizations to defend democracy.

Álvaro Ramos, a former presidential candidate for the National Liberation Party (PLN), has accepted the invitation. Ramos suggested expanding the initiative beyond a group of former candidates to include a broader network of social sectors, including producers, educators, entrepreneurs, cooperatives, and communal leaders. Ramos emphasized that the movement should function as a neutral mechanism for citizen participation to rebuild trust in institutions, rather than serving as a specific political or electoral platform.
