Ariel Robles denies drug use allegations from Deputy Kattia Calvo

Ariel Robles, former deputy and presidential candidate for the Frente Amplio, issued a public letter responding to allegations made by Kattia Calvo, a deputy from the Pueblo Soberano Party (PPSO). The dispute arose after Calvo reportedly called Robles a “drogadicto” (drug addict) during a legislative plenary session.

In his response, Robles denied consuming drugs, stating, “I do not consume drugs, nor smoked, nor drunk, nor in suppositories.” He criticized the use of substance use as a personal disqualification, arguing that security discussions should instead focus on drug trafficking structures, money laundering, and political corruption rather than individual consumption.

The conflict has escalated legally, as Calvo has filed a criminal complaint against Robles for alleged public incitement. This legal action, supported by other PPSO deputies, is reportedly based on Robles' statements regarding recent social protests and mobilizations. While Robles alluded to social media posts concerning Calvo's son, he stated he would not use family matters to attack the deputy.
