Ariena-M protection system shows effectiveness on Russian tanks in Ukraine

The Ariena-M active protection system is reportedly demonstrating effectiveness on the Ukrainian front when installed on Russian tanks. While these systems remain relatively rare, they have been observed on T-72B3A and T-90M tanks, often supplemented by passive anti-drone shielding.

Analysts note that while the system is highly effective, particularly against anti-tank guided missiles and grenade launchers, there are concerns regarding insufficient ammunition supplies. The use of the Ariena-M system also requires specialized crew training. These upgraded vehicles are being deployed to particularly difficult sectors of the front to increase survivability against FPV drones and other light anti-tank weapons.
