Arif Yesir masters traditional filography art through self-study

Arif Yesir, a resident of the Çamoluk district in Giresun, has developed a talent for filography, a traditional art form involving the use of nails and wires to create intricate patterns and figures. Having received no formal training, Yesir taught himself the craft through trial and error after discovering instructional videos on the internet.

Yesir currently displays his collection of dozens of handmade artworks in the lobby of the teachers' house where he works, effectively turning the space into a small art gallery. He describes the practice as a form of therapy and notes that the art form, which has Ottoman historical roots, is a fading tradition. He expressed that his interest stemmed from a deep admiration for manual labor and craftsmanship.
