Arijan Ademi faces potential departure from Újpest

Arijan Ademi, the 35-year-old former Dinamo Zagreb captain, is facing a potential departure from the Hungarian club Újpest. Despite having a contract valid until the summer of 2027, Ademi has seen a significant reduction in playing time, recording only 26 minutes of action across the first five rounds of the current season.

Several Croatian clubs, including Gorica and Rudeš, have expressed interest in the midfielder. Because his current salary is high and his contract is long-term, a direct buyout by Croatian clubs is considered unlikely. Potential solutions include a loan agreement where Újpest continues to cover a portion of his wages, or a mutual termination of his contract to allow him to join a new club as a free agent.

Ademi, a 13-time Croatian league champion, joined Újpest last summer. He recorded one assist in 19 appearances during the previous season, but his role within the squad has diminished significantly in the current campaign.
