Arijit Singh returns to film music for Awarapan 2 soundtrack

Singer Arijit Singh has ended a self-imposed hiatus from the playback industry to record for the upcoming film Awarapan 2. Singh had largely stepped away from cinematic soundtracks over the last one to two years due to a waning interest in the current creative direction of film music.

Composer Amaal Mallik clarified that Singh's decision to distance himself from the industry was entirely personal and not the result of external industry pressure. Mallik noted that those working closely with the singer had observed a decline in his enthusiasm for film projects long before the official announcement in early 2026.
