Arion Carter pledges tackle-based donations to cancer charities

Tennessee Volunteers linebacker Arion Carter has announced a charitable initiative to donate money to cancer treatment causes following a one-game NCAA suspension. The suspension stemmed from a $427 flight taken during the NFL pre-draft process.

Carter is partnering with the nonprofit Girls in Real Life Situations (GIRLS) to donate $427 for every tackle recorded this season. He also pledged to donate $500 per sack, $1,000 per interception or forced fumble, and $5,000 for every defensive touchdown. The funds will support organizations such as the Sisters Network Nashville, which assists cancer patients with medical bills.

Carter stated the decision was motivated by his girlfriend’s recent breast cancer diagnosis. Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel praised Carter’s character, noting his maturity and commitment to the community.
