Aris FC coach Gregoriou addresses 5-0 defeat to AEK

Aris FC coach Michalis Gregoriou addressed the team’s 5-0 defeat against AEK Athens, noting a significant collapse following the second goal. Gregoriou described the team as passive in the first half and noted that while they attempted to react more aggressively in the second half, the momentum shifted decisively after AEK took a 2-0 lead.

The coach identified several factors contributing to the loss, specifically highlighting the absence of defender Fabiano due to a thigh hematoma. Gregoriou stated that Fabiano’s absence in the center of the defense was critical, noting that three of the five goals conceded were a direct result of this void. He also mentioned that the substitution of Hongla, intended to refresh the midfield, led to further errors that conceded two additional goals.

Gregoriou announced plans to hold individual discussions with his players to address the lack of reaction during the match. Regarding future squad needs, he indicated that the club may seek a substantive addition to the center-back position, provided the right player is found.
