Aris defeats Kifisia 2-1 with late goal by Gare
Aris secured a 2-1 away victory against Kifisia in the 7th round of the Super League. The match was marked by high tension and a significant VAR intervention. In the 32nd minute, Benjamin Gare won a penalty after his shot hit the hand of Zolimbuas. Although Armando Brouma's initial attempt was saved by goalkeeper Ramirez, the VAR ordered a retake because an opposing player had entered the area prematurely. Brouma successfully converted the second attempt to give Aris a 1-0 lead.
Kifisia responded in the second half, with Angelo Sagal equalizing in the 53rd minute through a technical strike from outside the box. As the match approached its conclusion, Aris found the winner in the 89th minute. Following a quick counter-attack, Benjamin Gare scored with a clinical finish to secure the three points for the Thessaloniki-based team.
Following the win, Aris manager Michalis Grigoriou emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on all matches to climb the standings. Kifisia expressed strong dissatisfaction with the officiating, specifically citing the penalty retake and an unpunished foul on Liroy Abanda.
