Aristotle University of Thessaloniki dormitories face renovation inquiry
Michalis Hurdakis, a PASOK – Movement for Change MP for Thessaloniki, has submitted a parliamentary inquiry to Minister of Education Sofia Zacharaki regarding the renovation of student dormitories at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH).
The inquiry seeks clarification on the timeline and funding for the four AUTH dormitories (A, B, C, and D), which provide a total of 1,491 beds. While these dormitories were included in a national program funded by the Social Climate Fund—a total of €226.36 million for 17 dormitories nationwide—Hurdakis requested specific details on the exact budget allocated to the Thessaloniki facilities and the breakdown per building.
Furthermore, the MP requested a concrete plan to ensure student housing is secured during the renovation works. Although tender processes are expected to begin in 2027, the inquiry emphasizes the need for defined costs, responsible authorities, and binding schedules.
