Arizona Cardinals face running back injury challenges ahead of Week 1
Arizona Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur provided several injury updates regarding the team's roster ahead of the season opener. Rookie running back Jeremiyah Love is progressing well from a high-ankle sprain, though reports suggest his availability for Week 1 is approximately 50-50. If Love is unable to play, the Cardinals may rely more heavily on Tyler Allgeier, Zonovan Knight, or practice squad elevation candidate Evan Hull.
Additionally, running back James Conner has been placed on injured reserve to allow for necessary rest. Other injury notes include cornerback Garrett Williams progressing from an Achilles injury and cornerback Will Johnson recovering from a lower-body injury. The team also recently acquired tight end Hunter Long to bolster their blocking capabilities.
In other NFL news, the Minnesota Vikings are maintaining three quarterbacks on their roster, including Kyler Murray, Carson Wentz, and J. J. McCarthy. Analysts expect McCarthy to be on the active roster for Week 1.
