Jeremiyah Love sidelined with ankle injury

Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, is expected to miss the remainder of the preseason due to a high ankle sprain. The injury occurred during a preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, where Love recorded 58 rushing yards on 11 carries.

Head coach Mike LaFleur noted that Love’s ankle became more sore than initially anticipated, leading the team to sideline him for at least a week. While the injury is considered a high ankle sprain, the organization remains hopeful he will be available for the regular-season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 13.

The Cardinals' backfield is facing significant depth challenges, as veteran James Conner is also recovering from a foot injury and Trey Benson is dealing with a knee issue. In response to these injuries, the team has signed running back Tre Stewart. Additionally, rookie guard Chase Bisontis has been placed on injured reserve after suffering a torn MCL during the same preseason matchup.
