Arizona crypto ATM fraud victims recover $171,332 in refunds
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes announced that 35 victims of cryptocurrency ATM fraud have received full reimbursements totaling $171,332. The refunds were facilitated through the state's refund process for fraudulently induced transactions.
Under Arizona’s Cryptocurrency Kiosk License Fraud Prevention law, operators are required to issue full refunds, including all fees, for fraudulent transactions if the customer has been with the operator for fewer than 10 days. To qualify, claimants must notify the kiosk business and either law enforcement or the attorney general within 30 days and provide an official report confirming the fraud.
According to FBI data, Arizona has seen 460 complaints involving crypto kiosks, resulting in $14.53 million in adjusted losses during 2025. Nationally, kiosk-related complaints have exceeded 13,000, with adjusted losses surpassing $388 million.
