Arizona crypto ATM law helps victims recover $171,000

Since the implementation of House Bill 2387 on September 26, 2025, the Arizona Attorney General’s Office has assisted 35 scam victims in recovering a total of $171,332 through crypto ATM refund provisions.

Under the law, crypto kiosk operators are required to provide full reimbursements, including transaction fees, to qualifying new customers who were fraudulently induced into making transactions. To be eligible, victims must notify both the operator and law enforcement or the Attorney General’s Office within a 30-day window and provide an official report confirming the fraud.

The legislation defines a “new customer” as an individual who has used the specific operator for fewer than 10 days. To mitigate risk, the law imposes different daily transaction limits: new customers are capped at $2,000 per day, while existing customers have a limit of $10,500. Attorney General Kris Mayes has urged residents to report fraudulent activity immediately to ensure they do not miss the mandatory 30-day reporting deadline.
