Arizona Diamondbacks extend manager Torey Lovullo through 2028

The Arizona Diamondbacks have announced a two-year contract extension for manager Torey Lovullo, keeping him with the organization through the 2028 season. The decision follows a season where the team finished with an 86-76 record, missing the postseason on the final day of the regular season.

General Manager Mike Hazen expressed support for Lovullo, noting that the manager and coaching staff did a significant job maintaining team cohesion despite injuries and roster deficiencies. Hazen highlighted the team's resilience, noting they recorded the most comeback wins in Major League Baseball.

Hazen also took personal accountability for the team's failure to reach the playoffs, citing his own shortcomings in addressing weaknesses at first base, the designated hitter position, and the starting rotation. The extension aligns Lovullo with Hazen, who is also signed through 2028 with a team option for 2029.
