Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Angels trade wins in recent series

Mike Trout led the Los Angeles Angels to a 7‑0 shutout of the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday. Trout hit a 436‑foot two‑run home run in the fifth inning and added an RBI double in the sixth, while starter Reid Detmers worked seven scoreless innings.

A few days later the Diamondbacks snapped the losing streak with a 4‑3 victory. Pavin Smith delivered a solo home run in the seventh inning, and Geraldo Perdomo followed with a run‑scoring double to give Arizona a 4‑2 lead. Ryne Nelson pitched seven innings, allowing two earned runs, and the bullpen held on for the win.

Ahead of the next matchup, Arizona activated outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. from the injured list, assigning him to the designated‑hitter role. The lineup was reshuffled with Gabriel Moreno moving to cleanup, Corbin Carroll to third, and Perdomo returning to a higher spot after a hot month at the plate.
