Arizona Diamondbacks sign pitcher Zack Littell

The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed right-handed starting pitcher Zack Littell. The move follows Littell's release by the Washington Nationals on August 7, after he had been designated for assignment earlier that week.

Littell, 30, joined the Nationals on a one-year contract that included a mutual option for the 2027 season. While his ERA as a starter was 6.18, he performed significantly better when used behind an opener, posting a 3.18 ERA in those appearances. Under the terms of the new deal, Washington remains responsible for nearly all of Littell's remaining salary, with Arizona covering only the prorated MLB minimum.

The Diamondbacks aim to add depth to a rotation that has been impacted by injuries throughout the season. It remains unclear whether Littell will join the starting rotation or serve in a long-relief role from the bullpen.
