Arizona flash flooding triggers multiple emergency rescues

Heavy rains and monsoon storms in Arizona triggered several dangerous flash flooding incidents and emergency rescues.

In Maricopa County, the Sheriff’s Office deployed a helicopter to rescue two individuals in their 80s who were stranded in a vehicle along State Route 238. The Goodyear Fire Department issued warnings to avoid the area due to rapidly changing road conditions.

In Tucson, the Tucson Fire Department conducted three separate swift-water rescues within a 30-minute window. These incidents included a driver rescued from the top of a vehicle using an aerial ladder and another motorist who was swept into the Alamo Wash. A third individual was rescued after being swept away near Grant Road and Wyatt Drive. Emergency responders and bystanders assisted in pulling victims from the water before they were transported to local hospitals.
