Arizona mobilizes mutual aid to safeguard Colorado River water supply

The Phoenix city council on Tuesday authorized negotiations with fellow Arizona water users to establish an emergency reserve as the federal government considers slashing the state’s access to the Colorado River.

Hoover Dam's power output could drop 40 percent this year under plans to balance out record-low snowpack, as federal officials say they have no choice but to reduce water flows from Lake Powell hundreds of miles upstream to prevent another dam from shutting down.
