Arizona officials respond to Hobbs recordings and candidate assault

Newly released audio recordings have surfaced involving Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, following a year-long wait for public records. The recordings, released by researcher Brian Anderson, capture exchanges from June 2024 in Tucson and Phoenix. In the audio, Hobbs declines to answer reporter questions regarding her administration’s connections to Sunshine Residential Homes and an ongoing investigation by Attorney General Kris Mayes.

Separately, Arizona officials have expressed outrage following the sexual assault of congressional candidate Bernadette Greene-Placentia. The candidate was attacked by unknown assailants while repairing campaign signs in a parking lot in the northwest Valley. Governor Hobbs’ office released a statement condemning the attack as a “cruel and cowardly” act.
