In Arizona, the state’s Corporation Commission is weighing a 14% electricity rate increase for Arizona Public Service customers, which the utility says would raise monthly bills by at least $20. The commission has also repealed the Renewable Energy Standard and Tariff rule and the Electric Energy Efficiency Standards, and APS has proposed doubling the grid access fee for rooftop‑solar users from $3 to $6 per month. These regulatory moves come as temperatures in the state reach record highs of 117 °F, intensifying concerns over affordability and climate‑related stress on the power grid.
