Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes Defends Election System Amid GOP Denial Push

Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes asserted that the state’s election system remains healthy and that voter rolls are more accurate and secure than under any prior administration. He criticized Republican state Rep. Alex Kolodin as a “radical election denier” and defended the Arizona Voter Information Database (AVID) despite ongoing flaws cited by Rep. John Gillette, who says the system still has registration and data‑exchange problems.

At the same time, Republican candidates who question election integrity are appearing on the November ballot. Arizona is one of four states with three or more such candidates for statewide office, joining Colorado, Wisconsin and Tennessee. Nationwide, 139 candidates have been labeled election deniers, reflecting a broader strategy tied to former President Donald Trump’s election‑fraud narrative.
