Arizona Secretary of State launches website to combat election misinformation

Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes has launched a new website, arizona.vote, designed to provide voters with reliable information and counter election-related misinformation. The platform offers essential details such as registration deadlines, ID requirements, early-ballot request procedures, and ballot tracking.

Fontes stated that the initiative aims to “inoculate” voters by explaining how election systems function before rumors or false claims can take hold. The effort follows years of election skepticism in Arizona, including the controversial Cyber Ninjas review of Maricopa County’s 2020 results, which did not change the outcome and found no discrepancies.

To bolster public confidence, Fontes highlighted existing safeguards, noting that all votes are cast on paper, tabulators are not connected to the internet, and machines undergo logic and accuracy testing. State law also mandates random hand-count audits after elections, with precincts selected by party officials. Recent polling suggests a rise in voter confidence, with 70% of registered voters expressing trust in the process.
