Arizona State University Launches Content Creation Major for Influencers
Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication has introduced a Bachelor of Arts in Content Creation. The program is designed to train students to become social‑media influencers and strategic storytellers in the rapidly evolving creator economy.
Curriculum includes content planning, video and podcast production, personal branding, and global perspectives, supplemented by hands‑on experiences such as work in the Los Angeles Content Studio, brand‑content projects, media internships and content‑creation trips abroad. Senior associate dean Jessica Pucci says students will graduate with measurable audience growth, real‑world content and a proven digital brand.
The new major has drawn both praise and skepticism. Some students view it as a pathway to monetize their platforms, while critics question its value and whether graduates will earn higher incomes than peers without the degree.
