Arjen Tuiten wins Emmy for makeup work on ‘The Pitt’

Dutch makeup artist Arjen Tuiten has won an Emmy for his work on the American medical drama series ‘The Pitt’. Tuiten, 45, shared with the ANP news agency that the win was unexpected and that he is “very honored” by the prestigious television award.

Tuiten was part of a six-person makeup team nominated for the final episode of the second season, which featured a realistic replica of a uterus for a cesarean section scene. The series, starring Noah Wyle, is noted for its medical accuracy. In addition to Tuiten's win, ‘The Pitt’ received awards for casting and outstanding guest actor, which went to Ernest Hayden.

A veteran of Hollywood, Tuiten previously received two Oscar nominations for his work on ‘Wonder’ and ‘Maleficent II’. His career began in the Netherlands with productions such as ‘Baantjer’ and ‘Zwartboek’ before he moved into major international films like ‘World War Z’. He was unable to attend the ceremony in Los Angeles as he is currently working on the film ‘Heat 2’.

Other notable winners at the ceremony included Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show, which secured seven Emmys, including awards for choreography and producer Jay-Z.
