Arkadiusz Milik's housing project in Katowice faces local opposition

A planned residential development in the Brynów district of Katowice, named ‘Na Zgody’, has sparked significant opposition from local residents. The project is being spearheaded by the company Mamiteq, in which Polish footballer Arkadiusz Milik is a primary shareholder and capital contributor.

The development aims to construct over 2,000 apartments across 19 buildings on more than eight hectares of land. This site includes the former Rozwój Katowice stadium, where Milik began his professional career. While most buildings are planned to be 6–7 stories high, two central structures are slated to reach 11 stories.

During a meeting at the Silesian Center for Freedom and Solidarity, residents expressed concerns regarding the loss of green spaces, potential traffic issues, and reduced access to sunlight. Some community members criticized the scale of the project and the absence of Milik at the meeting, questioning whether the athlete personally supports the construction of high-rise blocks on the site of his former club's stadium. Mamiteq President Grzegorz Kowalczyk stated that while Milik is a partner, his current focus remains on his professional football career.
