Arkansas basketball coach John Calipari discusses team youth and potential

Arkansas men’s basketball coach John Calipari addressed the upcoming season during his first radio show, highlighting the roster's youth. Calipari noted that the Razorbacks possess the youngest roster in the Power Five and the fifth-youngest in Division I men’s basketball.

Calipari emphasized that the team's success will depend heavily on defensive development, specifically in guarding pick-and-rolls, transition defense, and the post. He suggested that high-level winning could lead to significant professional opportunities, noting the potential for multiple players to be selected in the 2027 NBA Draft.

Additionally, the upcoming season features a notable connection to Memphis basketball history, as Arkansas prepares to face Memphis in an exhibition game led by coach Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway. Both Hardaway and Calipari have deep ties to the Memphis basketball program, though they did not work together during their respective tenures there.
